England

Meaning of the English flag

The english flag is a symbol of the country, but what does it really mean. Well first of all it is called the flag of the United Kingdom and the great Britain and Northern – Ireland. The flag is blue, white and red, as the Norwegian one, but its not the same. In the background its blue, and then you got the red and white. The white color means Peace and Honesty, the red color means hardiness, bravery, strength and Valour, and the blue means vigiliance, truth and loyalty, Perseverance and justice.

MANCHESTER

The first most People think of when they hear Manchester, is Manchester united, But the City is much more than that. The Big sity is located north - west in England, and has a population on over 450.000 people! Manchester is not known for its architecture, but more for its rough bar/football life and industrial looks. While you are in Manchester you should visit The Peoples history museum and the museum of science and industry. Here you can se the development through time in Manchester. The city has always been a industrial city, but the population has gone up and down, But today it has become a really nice city, with a lot of people moving in.
Today, Manchester has a lot to offer, like the museums, but also Europa biggest china town. The nightlife, and food experience is something to experience, and i would really recommend it!

England

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool is the fourth biggest city in the United Kingdom. The City was founded in 1207, but it took a long time before the population grew. Today people most often travel to Liverpool because of their interests for Liverpool FC or The Beatles. I think people would be surprised over what the city has to offer. The people here are so nice and you still have the opportunity for shopping or just learning about history. There is a lot of English pubs, but also cafés. The plan for Liverpool was a football game, and a real English pub after or before. The game was exciting. It was Liverpool FC against Blackburn rovers, and of course Liverpool won. Fernando Torres was the one scoring the last goal, and they had a good game. I think so; then again, what do I know. After the game, we went to the English pub, the people were excited and happy about the game, and the mood was perfect. We ate fish and chips, and drank cola and beer, and just watched all the people, and replay on the English news. It was a really nice evening.
It has been a week all ready, and in three days the plain leaves from Manchester. We have seen some of England, but we have a lot left. Manchester is just for a day, because we decided to drive, so we could see some on the way. We are leaving the hotel early tomorrow, and then we are heading to Manchester. I am looking forward to the next couple of days, but I am going to miss London, and England a lot.

England

LONDON

DAY 1
London is the capital of England, Wales, Scotland and northern – Ireland, and has over seven million people living in the city. London is seen as the most financial and culture capitals in the world, and it is also one of the world’s shopping-capitals! It took a bit over two hours flying direct from the Norwegian airport værnes, to Gatwick in London. After landing in Gatwick and getting our suitcases we went by buss into London. It took about 1 and half hour to get to the hotel by buss, but we saw a lot on the way, and it was exciting.
Now it’s our first day here in London, and we are going to stay at abba queensgate hotel for the next five days. The hotel is located just a few blocks from Harrods, and a fifteen to twenty minute walk from Oxford Street. Just a street or two away from the hotel, Hyde Park and Kensington garden is located. Today the plan is to go for a ride in the two-plan busses, and see the city London style. After that we are planning on going to lunch and see Harrods. Later tonight we are going to the musical we will rock you by queens at the dominion theater. The theater is a short buss trip away from the hotel, and not so far away from Oxford Street. I guess you will hear from me tomorrow!

DAY 2
Yesterday was awesome. We sat on the buss with two plans and no ceilings on top, and we saw a lot of London. We also were in Harrods and Hyde Park, and they both were so amazing. Hyde park was so nice, people was running, reading on benches, walking their dogs, and some even sleeping. In the park it was all these grey squirrels with fluffy tales, so cute! After we went to Harrods, but this was really expensive. Only people with their Versace dresses, and Prada glasses can afford to look and buy. I felt like a stupid tourist when I walked by the handbag department, with my camera and sneakers. Then again, I guess they are used to tourist coming and going, just to see. Also, the musical was great, and I had so much fun!
Anyway, Today was even more amazing. It was shopping-day, and Oxford Street was on the top of my list. We walked through Hyde Park, and then to Oxford Street. I tell you, it was heaven. We was on Selfridge, Top Shop, Primark, and all the other stores, I mean malls! Top Shop was about five or six floor, but here it was affordable. Selfridge was more expensive, and it was like a mall to, but the stores was designers, like Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin! Primark was very affordable; you could buy a pair of sneakers for twenty Norwegian kr! But if you walked out of Oxford Street, it was just more shopping. The malls, and shopping – centers and other stores was everywhere. It was no problem finding what you were looking for, I found seven bags with it all, and now I am really happy! I don’t know if I ever want to leave this place.

DAY 4
Since last time, we have just seen more of London. The weather here is rain, and sunny, and then rain again. The climate is pretty much the same as Norway, almost. England have a lot of rain, July is the warmest month and January the driest. They got snow just like us, but London almost never got snow. This is because of all the people living at very little spacealso because of all the cars and busses driving. London is actually five degrees warmer than England around the year. Well tomorrow we leave London, to see a football game in Liverpool. Before that, we are going to Madam Tussauds.

Madam Tussauds: the tourist attraction for celebrity wax figures in London. Here you can find it all. Michael Jackson, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Shrek or Robert Pattison, which is btw English, James bond or Beyonce. They also have a show, a scary one. You walk through a tunnel, and all kind of creatures comes forward. It was really scary!
It was really fun to see all the famous people, in a wax version. I took a lot of pictures, and it looks like I am standing next to a famous superstar, and we are both smiling to the camera. Good to meet the fake, when you never can meet the real one.
